Abbie Irving will deliver the third Alcohol Occasional seminar of 2026, focussing on Community Alcohol  Partnerships (CAP).

Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) and the Scottish Alcohol Research Network (SARN) are proud to host our Alcohol Occasionals seminar series, which showcases new and innovative research on alcohol. These events provide the chance for researchers, healthcare professionals, policy makers, and members of the public to hear about alcohol-related topics and discuss and debate implications for policy and practice.

About the seminar

The third seminar of the 2026 Alcohol Occasionals will be delivered by Abbie Irving (University of Edinburgh). The seminar is titled “Navigating the promise and risks of industry-funded partnership: local public and third sector organisations’ experiences of Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) and will focus on research conducted during Abbie’s PhD which examined local CAP partners’ participation in CAP and their views on the significance of its alcohol industry funding.
