Bangkok Post 15 September 2025
Uncertainty surrounds the implementation of the new Alcoholic Beverage Control Act regarding the advertising rules for operators, with the details depending on upcoming ministerial notifications.
The Thai Alcohol Beverage Business Association (Tabba) said the organic law should reflect the objectives of the bill’s revision.
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act (No.2) of 2025 is set to take effect on Nov 8, according to the Department of Disease Control at the Public Health Ministry.
Kawee Sakawee, chairman of Tabba, said the industry has two key concerns regarding the new law: advertising regulations and the sale of alcoholic beverages.
In terms of advertising, the law introduces revisions such as Section 32/1, which states that ads for any alcoholic beverages are prohibited unless they serve to provide information, knowledge or public relations in line with the rules, procedures and conditions prescribed by the minister upon the recommendation of the Control Committee.
