Alcohol Action Ireland and the European Alcohol Policy Alliance are pleased to announce that the European Commissioner for Health, Vytenis Andriukaitis and Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy TD, Ireland’s Minister for Health Promotion, are confirmed to speak at the event. They will be joined by Marjatta Montonen, who is a leading Finish alcohol policy expert. She was trained in media studies and, throughout her career, her research and writing has focused on alcohol advertising and other aspects of alcohol in the mass media. She has worked with the Finnish Ministry of Health and the European Commission. Marjatta has also worked as a policy advisor to the Finnish National Institute for Welfare and Health. The event will explore how European Member States are working to protect children from alcohol marketing, and what further steps are necessary from an EU perspective.
